MAHLE Selects target Idea Management

To optimize their idea management processes, MAHLE made the decision to implement target Idea Management software. MAHLE GmbH, with headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, is one of the world’s 30 largest suppliers to the automobile industry. The company builds systems for nearly all automobile manufacturers. MAHLE employs approximately 9,000 people in 20 locations in Germany. 

The process flow for idea management was uniformly defined for all subsidiaries in Germany in a company agreement. MAHLE Idea Management is based on the manager model, where the direct manager of the employee submitting an idea plays a key role. In November 2008, MAHLE decided to implement the target software solution. For those at the company responsible for technical realization, it was essential that the company be able to set up an intranet-based workflow with target Idea Management software to allow everyone involved in roles in the process (submitter, supervisor, reviewer, works council, idea manager, and so on) to get the most up-to-date information on an idea and to carry out the required actions at any time.

MAHLE is a long-time customer of SAP business software. In the human resources area, MAHLE had not only implemented SAP software to support administrative tasks such as payroll and time management, but also its human resources information system and organization modeling. Heinz Gräter, responsible for IT Services Human Resources, had the following to say on the decision to go with target software:  “Our IT strategy for HR is based on SAP software. The target solution is developed exactly like an SAP application and therefore can be installed and configured like an SAP application. We were able to carry out the implementation project mostly using our own resources and to a limited degree target employees. It’s a great advantage for us to be able to use our existing SAP infrastructure for an additional application.”
