Successful Start for 3i-Web at Siemens VDO Automotive

The automotive components supplier implements the target Web solution for their 3i program on April 1, 2006.

Siemens VDO Automotive is one of the world's leading suppliers of electronics and mechatronics components to the automotive industry. The idea management system from Siemens - bundled under the name "3i" (ideas, impulses, initiatives) - comprises various measures for identifying idea potential. On April 1, 2006, Siemens VDO implemented the "target Idea Management" intranet solution.

The technological intranet platform used at Siemens VDO is SAP Enterprise Portal, in which the idea management solution is integrated. The portal supports all roles involved in the idea management process - submitters, managers, decision makers, reviewers, and others. These employees receive an e-mail notifying them of the tasks they need to complete in the process. From a link in the e-mail, they can then go directly to the intranet to carry out these activities. Through "single sign-on," they need only log on once to access all of the applications.

In a next step, Siemens VDO plans additional use of the target software system for key figure reporting using SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW). target provides a complete solution with data extraction and preparation, which customers can use to create their own queries.
